These portraits go along with a story we are doing on the tradition of fancy church hats. We have a different photog. actually attending a service on Sunday but these portraits were pretty fun to make.
I decided to post these rain features from festival as a tribute to all the wet weather we have been getting in Grand Rapids lately. I shot these about a month ago.
This lady was working in one of our community church gardens last week and was kind enough to give me some flower bulbs. I don’t remember what kind she said they are, but apparently they grow five feet tall and are red. I am not the gardener of our household but Chris planted them in the back yard. We will see what comes up!
We did a story on people who are coming out of retirement and going back to work as a sign of hard economic times. I thought this woman was so cute. Her name is Julie and she works for a non-profit organization that builds low-income housing for Grand Rapids residents in the Hearside area. Unfortunatley my window of time to shoot that day was limited to 30 minutes when she was on break…yep. So we did a portrait. Still, an inspiring woman and a pleasure to meet.
