Lookin’ at photos in the dark

This weekend I attended the annual Michigan Press Photographers Association seminar and contest judging. As usual, I experienced the jumble of inspiration, humility, and awe that is felt every year when I spend two straight days viewing the best work of photographers from all over our state. With the cuts we experienced in 2011, it was a hard year for newspaper photographers, but our work showed that drive and passion for the craft is still very much present, and going strong.
