A tree trunk is illuminated by Tuesday morning’s sun as blue sky creeps into Thearon Earegood’s backyard in Rockford. Earegood built his home in 1976 among the Red, Scotch, and White Pines off M-57. “It was a lot quieter back then,” he said.
