Grand Valley State University graduate Kortney Williams, 25, of Grand Rapids hugs Kay Pittman of Muskegon after GVSU’s 10:00 a.m. commencement ceremony at Van Andel Arena Saturday. “It’s a major accomplishment,” said Williams, “I got my degree and made my parents happy.” Williams majored in social work.
